New Mission High students with Boston Police Department to fight youth violence.

BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS –The “Unity for the Community: A Youth Violence Forum” is a way for students and the Boston Police Department to fight youth violence in the community. The event will take place on May 9th at the Tobin Community Center from 5:30 PM to 8:00 PM. During the forum, students from New Mission High School and officers from the Boston Police Department will discuss issues that deal with trust, respect, and ways to fight youth violence.

Many students of New Mission High School believe that the problem of youth violence stems from the relationships that they have with police officers. From a lack of neighborhood security to racial profiling, teens in the city of Boston feel that they can’t trust police officers. Teens and police officers should be dependant upon one another to bring crime rates down; however, today it seems like teens and police officers are foes with no respect for one another. Seniors of New Mission High School are ready to bring this conflict to an end.

The students of New Mission High School have been working with ACE and REEP to help fight environmental injustice in the community. ACE and REEP are community programs working to fight environmental injustice in the community. The students in the senior class in Paul Calvert’s Advisory have been working on fighting issues of environmental injustice. Please contact unityforthecommunity@gmail.com for more info.
