The MBTA has released two drastic proposals to raise fares and cut service to fill a $161 million budget gap. Both plans will decimate our public transit system and throw our communities into crisis—especially devastating young people, seniors and lower-income riders.

Take action!

We only have till March before service cuts and fare increase recommendations are given to the MBTA board for their April vote (the T is required by law to have a balanced budget by each April). Changes will be implemented in July 2012.

• Sign our online petition. Print copies of our paper petition and collect signatures. Get the petition in Spanish.

• Call your legislators and ask them to fix the T. Encourage them to attend upcoming fare increase and service cuts hearings and ask them to find a solution to the MBTA debt problem.
• Spread the word! Get the images from our poster to share and use as profile pictures.
• Be a part of the conversation! Use the hashtags #Tcuts and #TFareHike on Twitter to share your perspective on the MBTA's proposals and the importance of public transportation.
• Share materials! Find us at an upcoming action to pick up buttons and stickers.
