Toxic Tour of Dudley Square for teachers
Calling all teachers and educators for this free Toxic Tour before the school year begins!
ACE's Toxic Tour of Dudley Square is a 1.5 to 2-hour field trip in which participants learn about environmental justice through stories of injustice and resident/youth-led organizing victories in the neighborhood.
We begin by defining "environmental justice," sharing some history of the environmental justice movement in the United States, and setting expectations for the tour. Once outside, we visit between six and nine sites, all within a half-mile of Dudley Station. Each site highlights an environmental or social justice issue and the story of how it was addressed by youth and residents taking action.
The Toxic Tour is an interactive way for students to learn about the hidden environmental injustices in our neighborhoods and to see first hand that when we come together we can fight for change and win!
