Third Annual Green Roots Festival
Join Bikes Not Bombs at the third annual Green Roots Festival, a giant open air celebration of sustainable urban living. This is a place to share information both about the work on environmental issues and social justice in general.
Sunday, June 6, 2010
12:00 to 5:30 p.m.
The park at Stony Brook Station
(on the Orange Line)
100 Boylston Street at 180 Lamartine Street
Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
The celebration will include:
* Information tables by organizations and businesses
* Vendors (arts, crafts, books, etc)
* Food by local restaurants, on Boylston Street closed to traffic
* Music from Brazilian samba drummers, a Caribbean steel pan orchestra, and more!
* Kids' fun, art, pageantry, celebration!
The Green Roots Festival is free and open to the public, and will draw thousands of local people for a beautiful, informative and meaningful day in the park. The festival will also be the finish line and party for 400 to 500 activist cyclists who are starting their day on the Bike-A-Thon with Bikes Not Bombs.
All groups working for social justice are invited, including activists on affordable housing, racial equality, peace building, youth empowerment and more. We believe that issues of the physical environment in which we live, work and play must include us, the people within and affected by that environment. Beyond the protection of wild spaces, environment advocacy is part of the integrated movement for justice for all people.
