Take Action

Updated March 2011

One of the goals of the recent Youth Jobs rally was to get our legislators to push through a Supplemental Budget that Governor Patrick has filed. This budget contains $4 million in funding for Youth Works youth jobs program and $1.5 million in funding for the School to Career youth jobs program. This will create youth jobs in time for this summer. If they don't pass the Supplemental Budget and just wait until the regular budget passes on July 1, the money will come in too late to develop most of the jobs for this summer.

We need to get the Supplemental Budget passed so our communities can get the youth jobs funding they need and begin to make plans on how to spend the money. Right now both line items are at ZERO and we need to get across to our elected officials that this is an emergency situation and they need to take action quickly.

You can take action by doing the following:

1) Please call your State Representatives and State Senators and tell them to get in contact with House Speaker Robert DeLeo and Senate President Therese Murray to ask them to push forward the Supplemental Budget that contains Youth Works funding and School to Career Funding.

2) Please reach out to your friends and coworkers and ask them to do the same.
