Co-op Power Is . .

1) Supporting local community groups to build community-owned wind, solar, hydro, biomass, and biofuel projects, helping them get formed and capitalized, helping them distribute the energy produced, and helping to sustain them over generations in service of their local community and the region.

2) Launching Northeast Biodiesel to secure access to biodiesel fuel (from recycled vegetable oil), and supporting other biofuel efforts in the region.

3) Developing a revolving loan fund that will use member equity and loans to support conservation and efficiency improvements and renewable energy installation.

Lynn Benander and Eduardo Suarez of Co-op Power will describe the cooperative ownership model and the financing strategy they have developed for renewable energy projects, and the resources they might offer to interested community organizations in Greater Boston. We will then take time for questions and discussion about possibilities to create community-owned, renewable energy projects in Greater Boston.
