1) REEP Community Organizer

Roxbury Environmental Empowerment Project, started in 1995, is a youth-led, adult supported program of ACE. REEP youth, ages 14-19, lead campaigns for environmental justice, health, air quality, food access, and improved public transportation in Roxbury and beyond.

The REEP Community Organizer will directly support the youth development, community building, teamwork, political education, training, recruitment, and organizing of REEP’s Youth Organizers and members. Major responsibilities include support/supervision of eight part-time Youth Organizers (ages 15-19), lead organizing one to two of REEP’s three campaigns, and facilitation of planning/work time, training and political education sessions, energizers/teambuilders, etc. The REEP Community Organizer will report to the REEP Co-Director and work as part of REEP’s adult support team.

Qualifications
· Two to four years of relevant experience
· Understanding of positive youth development
· Ability to build trust and relationships with Roxbury/Dorchester youth ages 14-19
· Understanding of organizing (campaigns, base-building, and leadership development)
· Understanding of systems of oppression (racism, etc.) and environmental justice
· Experience with popular education and/or facilitative leadership
· Ability to plan and facilitate youth planning meetings, teambuilders, political education, etc
· Passion for youth voice, youth power, and youth movement
· Flexible schedule with ability to work evenings and some weekends

30 hrs/week
$25,500-$28,500 depending on experience.
