I’m writing in support of the T Riders Union (TRU), a program of the 700+ member organization, Alternatives for Community & Environment (ACE).

Now is a critical time in the Commonwealth to work together to achieve a more equitable, reliable and sustainable public transit system.

Public transit is a public good. It drives the state’s economic engine by getting residents to work and to the services we need. It’s an environmentally friendly alternative which keeps our greenhouse gas emissions down. And it’s a lifeline, particularly for those without access or the means to afford their own vehicle.

T riders are most likely facing a fare hike and reduction in services. Approving the fourth fare MBTA increase since 2000 will cause financial hardship on poor people and working families who are already unable to make ends meet.

Please support a long term solution that secures additional resources to fund public transit across the state of Massachusetts.
