Third group appeals Brockton power plant ruling

Seventeen people from Brockton, West Bridgewater, are third group to file appeal

BROCKTON —

A group of 17 residents from Brockton and West Bridgewater has appealed a state ruling that gave a license to a proposed Brockton power plant, according to a nonprofit organization that represents the residents.

In a press release on Friday, the Boston-based nonprofit Alternatives for Community and Environment said the appeal is based on:

“The (siting board’s) failure to have an environmental justice strategy or understand environmental justice.”

“The failure to require the power plant to conduct a health impact assessment of its estimated air pollution.”

“Allowing the power plant to use Logan airport wind data to model its air pollution impacts in Brockton with no showing that the Logan data would yield accurate results for Brockton.”
