Boston Police today identified the man killed Friday night in Dorchester as James Jacobs, 27, of Randolph.

He was shot on McClellan Street just before 8 p.m. Friday and just hours after a teenager was shot on an MBTA bus on Washington Street. Dwayne Graham, 18, later died.

Police have not made any arrests in either killing. The two shootings were the latest in a spasm of gun violence that has drawn the attention of elected officials, clergy, and others.

Mayor Thomas M. Menino is scheduled to meet with Governor Deval Patrick later today to discuss how the state can help quell the recent spate of gun violence.

The governor called Menino yesterday to offer help and the mayor accepted, said Dot Joyce, the mayor's press secretary. Menino is expected to ask Patrick for state funding of summer jobs for young people in Boston and help in pushing through legislation designed to fund anti-gang measures. They are scheduled to meet in Patrick's office at 5:45 p.m.

"I look forward to meeting with the governor and talking about ways we can help our young people," Menino said through Joyce.
