With 100 million more people expected in the United States by 2050, and with increasing energy and transportation costs, plans for future neighborhoods must take density into account. This workshop, featuring Julie Campoli, a landscape architect, land planner, and principal of Terra Firma Urban Design in Burlington, VT, will explore the challenges of designing neighborhood appropriate density. Ms. Campoli is the co-author of the book, Visualizing Density, published by the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy, that catalogs 300 aerial photos taken of neighborhoods of varying densities from around the country, including shots of Boston. Ms. Campoli’s interactive workshop will help participants foster an understanding of the role design plays in neighborhood plans for higher density while offering ideas for how to use visual tools to communicate with stakeholders.
