Ballot Question 1 Briefing
The Union of Minority Neighborhoods, NAACP Boston Branch, OISTE and other organizations and community leaders will be hosting a Black/Brown community leadership discussion and briefing on the potential effects that a 'yes' vote on Ballot Question One would have.
Question One, in short, asks the voters of Massachusetts to strike down the state income tax.
At a time when cities and towns are struggling to provide the most basic of services, the abolition of the state income tax would decimate local communities, institutions, services, schools, and the social safety net that effects so many in our communities. Without a state income tax we literally would be putting the lives of seniors, needy families, children, and others at great risk. Without a state income tax our school systems, hospitals, and infrastructure would in time be destroyed.
