On December 16, ACE members and supporters gathered at our Annual Meeting to reflect on a year of success and make plans for an exciting and environmentally just 2011. We shared delicious food and enjoyed performances and presentations from our different programs.
The Annual Meeting was an opportunity for members to reflect on a year of exciting changes, including positive developments in our campaign against a fossil fuel power plant in Brockton, a grant to retrofit polluting garbage trucks, the progress of the Energy Services Company (ESCO) and meetings with the MBTA General Manager. We plan to build on these achievements by bringing in more members, expanding our Dudley Square Organizing Project and working with the T to improve on-time bus service.
Members approved ACE’s 2011 work plan and voted to elect Saulo Araújo and Dumas Lafontant to our Board of Directors. Saulo is the Program Coordinator for Latin America at Grassroots International and has worked for environmental justice both nationally and internationally. Dumas Lafontant is the Director of Community Relations at Whittier Street Health Center and has also worked as a community organizer in Boston. We welcome them to the board and congratulate outgoing Board Chair Trina Jackson for her amazing work.
Members engaged in discussions of our individual and shared visions for ACE and strategies for realizing those goals. We will revisit those discussions throughout the year. Thank you to everyone for sharing your passion, ideas and support!
